AREA MANAGER WANTED FOR GROWING VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PROVIDER - Berkshire/Hampshire/South Coast

My Client is a leading leisure/ hospitality business and they have teamed up with a renowned vocational education provider.

We are now looking for an Area Manager who will help the educators really make a difference to these young people’s lives.

You will be looking at approximately 8 sites across Berkshire/ Hampshire/Sussex

Purpose of the Role

To provide educational leadership across a portfolio of alternative provision sites, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, safeguarding and learner outcomes. The role is accountable for quality assurance, instructor leadership, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, ensuring provision consistently meets the expectations of commissioning schools, local authorities and statutory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Leadership

• Provide educational leadership across all sites within the region and ensure consistent delivery of the educational programme and learner experience across all sites.

Quality Assurance & Teaching Standards

• Conduct regular lesson observations across regional sites, providing developmental feedback to instructors
• Lead workbook and assessment standardisation processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across the region
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, implementing improvement plans where required
• Ensure provision aligns with commissioner expectations and relevant educational frameworks
• Support the retention and growth of commissioning partnerships through delivery of high-quality provision.

Instructor Management & Operational Cover

• Lead and Coach a team of instructors across the region, including regular 121’s, supervision and professional development
• Drive performance management processes, recognising excellence and addressing underperformance where required.
• Provide cover for sessions where required to maintain continuity of provision
• Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training of Instructors
• Work in partnership with site management operational teams to deliver the provision through site management teams, where there is no dedicated Instructor

Reporting - Learner Progress & Outcomes

• Monitor learner progress data, identifying trends and intervening to address underachievement
• Assist in engaging learners with poor or low attendance.
• Ensure all educational documentation, assessments, attendance records and learner files are maintained to required standards.
• Promote high aspirations and positive destinations for all learners

Stakeholder Liaison

• Assist in liaising with commissioning schools and local authorities within the region
• Work in partnership with Divisional Director, People Director and Operational Area Managers to ensure operational support is sufficient to deliver high quality provision for learners at sites

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

• Promote a culture of safeguarding, inclusion and learner welfare across all sites.

Post-16 Pastoral Support

• Assist with pastoral support for Post-16 learners, ensuring their wellbeing, engagement and progression

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial experience teaching or leading in alternative provision, SEND or similar settings
• Proven experience conducting lesson observations and driving quality improvement
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, SEND and the alternative provision landscape
• Experience managing staff across multiple sites in a regional/area role
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the region
• Enhanced DBS clearance

Desirable

• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent education qualification
• Leadership/management qualification (e.g. NPQ)
• Experience liaising with local authorities and commissioning bodies
• Knowledge of Post-16 provision and pastoral frameworks
