CNC Miller / Precision Engineer

Location: South Oxfordshire
Hours: 40 hours per week – flexible working hours
Machines: Hurco CNC Mills
Programming: Fusion 360 / Hurco WinMax

An established, friendly precision engineering company in South Oxfordshire is looking for an experienced CNC Miller / Precision Engineer to join its small engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for a proper hands-on engineer who enjoys varied, interesting work and solving engineering problems – not simply loading a programme and pressing cycle start.

The Role

The role involves programming, setting and operating Hurco CNC milling machines, working across a varied range of precision engineering projects.

Machines include Hurco VM10i, VMX30 and VM50Ti, with 4th-axis capability.

The work is predominantly one-offs, prototypes and small batches, alongside modifications, repairs and reverse-engineered components.

You'll be trusted to take ownership of jobs, decide how best to manufacture components and select appropriate tooling, workholding and machining strategies.

What You'll Need

• Strong Hurco CNC milling experience
• Confident programming, setting and operating CNC mills independently
• Good knowledge of Hurco machines
• Fusion 360 CAD/CAM programming experience
• Hurco WinMax conversational programming skills
• Ability to work confidently from engineering drawings, CAD models and existing components
• Good understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and workholding
• Experience with one-offs, prototypes and small-batch machining
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
• A strong eye for quality, accuracy and detail

Wire EDM / wire erosion experience would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
