Reading £55,000–£62,000 10% Bonus Hybrid (post-probation)

The Role

We need an Electrical Engineer to ensure wiring, terminations, and conductor selection meet the right standards across manufacturing.

Not your typical Electrical Engineer role. Less PCBAs and electronics. More about interpreting wiring standards and making compliance calls.

You'll be the go-to Electrical Engineer for:

• Conductor sizing & cable specs
• Splicing & termination rules
• Insulation & derating
• IEC / BS/EN / UL / NFPA standards

What You'll Bring

• Wire & cable specs — conductor material, AWG/mm², insulation, voltage & temp ratings
• Conductor types — Tri-Rated, THHN/THWN, IEC/UL recognised
• Sizing & ampacity — AWG vs mm², derating
• Splicing rules — compatibility, sizing, approved methods
• Terminations — crimps, ferrules, lugs, bolted joints, torque
• Earthing/grounding & electrical protection
• Reading schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal plans

Nice to have:

• Breaker/fuse & LV protection experience
• High-mix manufacturing background (switchgear, busway, panel build)

What You'll Do

As the Electrical Engineer, you'll:

• Approve wire/cable specs & conductor choices
• Review splicing & termination methods
• Guide teams on ampacity, derating & protection
• Check drawings/BOMs for compliance
• Support NPI & design reviews
• Investigate electrical non-conformances
