SEND Teacher – PE Specialism

Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Contract: Permanent, Term Time
Start Date: As soon as possible, subject to notice period
Hours: Monday – Friday | 40 hours
Salary: Up to £46,519 pa, dependent on experience

LTE Search is supporting a small specialist school in High Wycombe to appoint a PE specialist to join its teaching team.

The school supports young people aged 11–19, with up to around 36 pupils across the provision. Pupils have a range of additional needs, with the majority presenting with SEMH and ASC.

The environment is highly individualised, with a strong emphasis on relationships, engagement, emotional regulation and preparing young people to make positive progress.

This is an opportunity for a PE teacher who wants to use their subject to make a broader difference — while also contributing to the development of the school's wider curriculum.

The Role

You will plan and deliver PE across the school, adapting lessons and activities to the needs, abilities and interests of individual pupils.

Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will contribute to the wider development of the curriculum and take responsibility for ensuring PE provision is purposeful, engaging and appropriately challenging.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering high-quality PE across the 11–19 age range.
• Developing differentiated schemes of work and learning activities.
• Contributing to curriculum planning and wider curriculum development.
• Adapting teaching to support pupils with SEMH, ASC and other additional needs.
• Using physical activity to promote confidence, wellbeing, engagement and personal development.
• Building positive relationships and supporting pupils' behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Assessing progress and adapting provision accordingly.
• Contributing to enrichment, extracurricular activities and wider school life.
• Working collaboratively with teaching, therapeutic and support staff.
• Supporting safeguarding and the wider wellbeing of pupils.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a small, collaborative environment where they can get to know pupils well and have a visible impact on their development.

About You

You will hold QTS or QTLS and have experience teaching PE.
Experience within SEND, SEMH, ASC, specialist education or alternative provision would be advantageous, but we are also keen to hear from mainstream PE teachers who are ready to make the move into specialist education.
