Yard Operative - Reading

Salary: £29,000-£30,000 DOE

Job Type: Permanent

Working Hours

Monday to Friday

Shifts are either 7:00am-4:30pm or 7:30am-5:00pm, depending on business needs

2 Saturdays per month on a rotating 2 on / 2 off basis

About the Role

Our client is a well-established business in Reading looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence who wants a long-term career with a growing company.

Your Duties

• Help customers choose and load building materials, providing good customer service and product advice
• Pick and pack stock for company deliveries
• Load company vehicles safely and accurately
• Unload supplier vehicles, check deliveries and put stock away
• Operate a range of forklifts, including diesel and electric FLTs, multi-directional and Teletruck forklifts, and loading shovel equipment
• Complete daily forklift and plant checks
• Keep the yard and warehouse clean, tidy and safe
• Carry out weekly cleaning duties
• Support other teams and help with the day-to-day running of the business

Full training will be provided where needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence - essential
• Full UK Driving Licence - essential
• Previous experience in a yard, warehouse or builders’ merchant is preferred
• Reliable, hardworking and willing to get stuck in
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Able to work safely and efficiently in a busy environment
• A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
